The New Age of Acceptance:

Successful Representation of Sexual Minorities in Popular Television Shows

The purpose of this paper was to examine the extent to which popular drama television shows (Grey’s Anatomy and Glee) portrayed sexual minorities and how they challenge preexisting frames and stereotypes already dictated in the media. For this, I had to apply communication theory, analyze already existing research, and finalize and collaborate all my findings into one cohesive piece.

Alcohol TV Advertisements Communication to Adolescents

This paper and research was conducted over the course of 2 years. For this, I first had to conduct a preliminary research study that looked into the idea that alcohol television advertisements influenced underage drinking. Once I did enough research to determine that adolescents are cultivated to the images of drinking on TV, I found a way to combat the epidemic of underage drinking. I conducted my own study and used fear induced television advertisements to change adolescents’ perceptions of drinking. My survey was sent out to a group of high school kids and they were asked a series of questions to test their perceptions  before and after viewing fear-induced ads. My research and study was proved to be effective and successful.
